A Brief History…

The slope was established in 1983 as Bishop Reindorp Ski Centre, in the grounds of what was then Bishop Reindorp School. In 2003 the school became Christ’s College, so the slope became Christ’s College Ski Club. In 2016 the slope rebranded as The Guildford Ski Slope because it tells people exactly where we are and what we do!

Over the years there have been several phases of redevelopment, from the original short, single slope in 1983, to the complete rebuild that we undertook in 2009. We now have 3 slopes – a nursery slope, a main slope, and a separate slope dedicated to donutting. This 3rd slope has proved very popular with adults and children alike.

James

James established Bishop Reindorp Ski Centre in 1983, and he was teaching people to ski even before that. He is a very experienced artificial slope instructor and is responsible for ensuring that all teaching at the slope is of a high standard and is geared towards individual needs. James likes to share his knowledge and experiences in his own relaxed and friendly manner (watch out for the dreadful jokes).

The Rest of the Squad

A small number of dedicated volunteer  instructors complete the team at the Club, some have been with us for over 20 years. All are registered with an appropriate governing body – either Snowsport England, Snowsport Scotland, or BASI. We have an ongoing instructor training program covering personal performance, teaching, first aid and ski technician skills. We are proud to say that most of our instructors have the excellent BASP 2 day Mountain First Aid qualification, and are Salomon Rental Technician trained. You may occasionally find a second instructor helping with, or observing, your lesson, as shadowing other lessons is part of our ongoing training process.

We aim to make all lessons as much fun as possible, whilst keeping you safe, because if you are enjoying yourself there’s a good chance you will also be learning. We pride ourselves on being sympathetic to every individual’s needs, including the most nervous beginners. We are also happy to let you pick our brains with any questions about equipment, lessons in resort, where to go for a good holiday, what to wear, or anything else ski related.
